On the Nov. 20 edition of “NXT,” a new vignette for the debuting-Kevin Owens was aired. It received much fanfare, and went viral relatively quickly.

Owens, who is more famously known as Kevin Steen, changed his Twitter handle to reflect his new character and hyped his upcoming debut.

Owens’ official debut will be occurring at the “NXT Takeover: R Evolution” event on Dec. 11. His new name is an allusion and tribute to former WWE Superstar Owen Hart, who died when he fell from the rafters at “Over The Edge” in 1999. Hart was Owens’ favorite wrestler, and he even named his son in honor of the fallen star.

There is much speculation he will debut as a heel, with some even guessing he may feud with NXT Superstar Sami Zayn. The two had several programs together in the independent circuit, when both were known as Kevin Steen and El Generico respectively.

Editor’s Note

Bring it on. Super stoked.
