Legendary Puerto Rican wrestler Carlos Colón Sr., the father of former WWE superstar Carlito, will finally be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as apart of the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame class. Colón revealed the news to PrimeraHora.com on Tuesday, March 11, 2014.
Colón noted that he was informed about his induction via a notification from WWE offices and said the following on the matter:
“Imagination, is the realization of a dream. It’s the maximum [to] get there. As in other sports, like baseball and basketball, reaching the Hall of Fame is the greatest thing.
People on the street wondered when I would [be recognized] and told me I deserved to be there, but if last year [WWE] did not choose me, despite the excitement in New York where [there are] a large number of Puerto Ricans; I thought it would never happen.
When I called a person of the company and [he] told me, it was like a ‘shock.'”
Carlos Colón Sr. is most notable for his time in the World Wrestling Council. There, he achieved greatness, becoming a 26-time WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship for the Puerto Rican promotion.
The 2014 WWE Hall of Fame Ceremony will be broadcast live on April 5 on the WWE Network. Confirmed inductees as of this writing are Paul Bearer, The Ultimate Warrior, Lita, and Jake “The Snake” Roberts.
