After winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from John Cena at “SummerSlam” on Aug. 17, Brock Lesnar has only defended his title one time. His one title defense came at WWE’s September pay-per-view, “Night of Champions,” where he retained his title thanks to Seth Rollins’ interference upon a third “Attitude Adjustment” delivered to Lesnar by Cena.

There’s a chance that Brock Lesnar’s only title defense in 2014 will be the aforementioned match with John Cena at “Night of Champions.” Lesnar will not be part of WWE’s October pay-per-view, “Hell in a Cell.” Even further, two weeks ago, Lesnar was not advertised for WWE programming until the 2015 “Royal Rumble.” However, now, Lesnar is currently advertised for the Dec. 8 “Monday Night Raw,” which will also serve as WWE’s Slammy Awards for 2014.

Despite Lesnar’s added date in December, WWE is still planning on Lesnar not wrestling until the 2015 “Royal Rumble,” according to F4WOnline. Lesnar is still slated to face John Cena at the pay-per-view, coinciding with previous reports in October. At “Hell in a Cell,” Cena will go up against Randy Orton in a Number One Contender match. WWE has been sure to not link a specific date to Lesnar’s next title defense, simply saying the winner between Cena and Orton, will face Lesnar in the “future.”

It remains to be seen if Lesnar will indeed not make another title defense in 2014. Lesnar’s manager, Paul Heyman, was on the Oct. 20 showing of “Monday Night Raw,” and will be part of the “Hell in a Cell” Kickoff, airing at 7 p.m. EST, prior to the pay-per-view portion going on the air. With Heyman’s reemergence, there has been some speculation that Heyman will announce when Lesnar will fight next, possibly “Survivor Series.”

Editor’s Note

I would be stunned if Lesnar doesn’t wrestle again until “Royal Rumble.” WWE would have to make up for his absence with a major storyline, possibly something stemming from The Wyatt Family vignettes.
