With Brock Lesnar’s current WWE contract to expire the night after WrestleMania 31, there has been lots of speculation about Lesnar returning to UFC. A big part of these rumors is due to Lesnar being 100 percent healthy for the first time in years, clear of diverticulitis.
Well, Brock Lesnar is indeed returning to the Octagon, but not in the way one might think. Lesnar will be included in free downloadable content for “EA Sports UFC,” a video game on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One since June 17, 2014. The title of the DLC is “Legends DLC Pack,” and is headlined by Lesnar.
Lesnar’s inclusion in the game has fueled speculation of the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion returning to UFC in the spring of 2015. Within WWE launch titles, there has been a precedent of a former star appearing in the video game, just prior to making a return to the ring. Lesnar, himself, appeared in “WWE ’12,” released on Nov. 22, 2011. About five months later, Lesnar made his return to WWE in April 0f 2012.
Editor’s Note
This is very interesting news. For one, if WWE and Vince McMahon does see UFC as its competition, you would think the company would do its best to not allow Lesnar in the game. Additionally, EA is 2K’s main competition, so you would also assume 2K, WWE’s relatively new partner, would not want Lesnar in an EA production.
