Following a huge winter storm in the Northeast region of the United States, the Jan. 26 showing of “Monday Night Raw” would have to air from WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. The unique showing of “Raw” featured a number of interviews with WWE Superstars, which came off a bit edgy and unscripted, leading to a huge bump in viewership.
Because “Raw,” which was slated to take place in Hartford, Connecticut at the XL Center, did not occur, a live showing of “Smackdown” on Thursday, Jan. 29, will take place from the arena.
Originally, both WWE.com and the XL Center advertised Randy Orton to work the show in some capacity, but both entities have since pulled “The Viper” from advertising. Similarly, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar has been pulled from advertising on both WWE.com and the XL Center’s advertisement for the show.
When the live “Smackdown” was made on Monday, Jan. 26, Lesnar had been featured in advertisements on WWE.com, in addition to local advertisements in Hartford. Perhaps Lesnar has been pulled from the show due to still being involved on the Jan. 26 “Raw,” which saw him kickstart his feud with Roman Reigns, in a segment that the majority of the WWE Universe responded positively towards.
Editor’s Note
I thought this may happen, as WWE may want to wait until “Raw” to showcase Lesnar, therefore having more time to think of a way to keep fans intrigued about Lesnar’s feud with Reigns. It also saves the company a date and/or money on Lesnar’s current deal.
