Today, Thursday, Jan. 30, WWE is taping a couple editions of NXT at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Fla. Full Sail University, which is a small and intimate arena, usually has sound travel very well in it. Unfortunately for WWE, during its tapings, the increased crowd volume ended up both literally and figuratively giving WWE a headache.
During the event, the raucous crowd chanted for CM Punk endlessly, according to PWInsider. In addition to CM Punk chants echoing throughout the arena, many fans brought CM Punk signs to Full Sail, which ended up being confiscated by security. At one point, as WWE counted down to the beginning of the taping for a NXT episode, fans were asked to chant “NXT.” The request backfired as the crowd erupted into chants for Punk.
This is just the latest in a week of WWE fans seemingly hijacking WWE events. During the 2014 Royal Rumble pay-per-view, the raucous Pittsburgh crowd chanted a plethora of things such as, “We want refunds,” “YES,” and “Daniel Bryan” during the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match. Things would get worse though as the crowd endlessly booed during the closing moments of the Royal Rumble match due to Daniel Bryan not being an entrant. Additionally, the returning Batista was heavily booed, which led to “The Animal” mocking Daniel Bryan’s “YES” chant, with middle fingers directed to the crowd.
