Remember when Brock Lesnar landed on his head after attempting a shooting star press on Kurt Angle? Yeah, this is that match.
Prior to their match at WrestleMania XIX, Kurt Angle suffered a pretty severe neck injury, and he was almost pulled from the show. While speaking about the match during an interview with TSN’s Michael Landsberg, Angle said that, going into the match, his neck was in such bad shape that he couldn’t lift one his arms above his head.
Angle vs. Lesnar wasn’t originally supposed to be the main event of WrestleMania XIX, as Steve Austin vs. The Rock was the original show closer. However, Austin ended up in the hospital on the Saturday before the show, and because WWE was afraid that Austin might not end up wrestling, they moved Lesnar vs. Angle to the main event.
