Both Jeff and Matt Hardy made their triumphant return to WWE on Sunday, as they captured the Tag Team Championships in a fatal four way ladder match. Then, they successfully defended those titles against Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson on Monday. The question now is: what’s next for the Hardys?

On Monday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer was asked what the Hardys’ WWE role will be, and if the company will end up using them like they used the Dudley Boyz when they returned.

“Vince, when he brings back those kind of guys, that is usually the role that he puts them in. He feels that’s what the older guys and the nostalgia acts are good for. Right now, that’s not the case. But I don’t have an answer, it’s up to Vince. I would say that [they’ll be fine] if they stay over, but, you know what, they beat down the Dudleys before they had cooled off. It wasn’t like the Dudleys cooled off and they became whipping boys. So I don’t really have an answer. The one thing that will help the Hardys is that they do see Jeff as a bigger star than they ever saw the Dudleys, and number two is that the Hardys will probably do very well with merchandise, so that may be the one thing that saves them from being put in that position.”
