It was recently revealed that John Cena, who is set to return to WWE television on July 4, will be a free agent upon his return. What does that mean? Well, it’s simple: WWE considers Cena to be their only big drawing card, and they want him on both Raw and SmackDown. So, when he returns, he’ll be the only WWE superstar who’s allowed to appear on both the red and blue brand.

John Cena being allowed to go on both shows will create a lot of interesting match ups, but none of them will be as interesting as a match with Roman Reigns, which according to Cageside Seats, will happen sooner rather than later.

According to the site, WWE wants to do a Cena vs. Reigns match in the near-future, and at the very latest, WrestleMania 34. So, we could see Reigns and Cena go one on one at next year’s show in New Orleans, Louisiana.

On last week’s Raw, Reigns announced that he will face the Universal Champion, whoever that ends up being, at SummerSlam. Most assume that the champion will be Brock Lesnar, as The Beast is heavily favored to defeat Samoa Joe at next month’s Great Balls of Fire show.

Several months ago, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that the plan for next year’s WrestleMania is Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. However, it looks like that match has been moved up to SummerSlam, which could mean that Reigns will defend the title against John Cena next year.

John Cena confronts Roman Reigns: Raw, July 14, 2014

Cena and Reigns will certainly be interesting, as they’re, by far, the two most polarizing figures that WWE has ever had. So, who will the fans get behind? Will it be the usual mixed reaction for both men? Will the fans finally get behind Cena because they dislike Roman so much? Or will the fans completely reject the match? My guess is that the fans will finally be 100-percent behind Cena.

How do you think the crowd will react to Cena vs. Reigns if it happens at WrestleMania 34? Are you interested in seeing the match? Let us know in the comments below, or over on our Facebook page!
