Back in July, WWE announced that they had signed Shelton Benjamin, and that he would be a part of the SmackDown roster. But, a significant shoulder injury prevented his return, and we don’t really know what his current status is with the company.

If WWE is still planning on bringing Benjamin back, they could have him return as a surprise entrant in the 2017 Royal Rumble match. In fact, that’s probably where his return will happen if they still want him back. So, we could be just a few short weeks away from the “Gold Standard’s” WWE return.
