James Ellsworth was incredibly psyched to have a shot at the title against AJ Styles — except that never happened. Styles is still nursing a sore foot — or something — and wasn’t “medically cleared” to fight. Nonetheless, Ellsworth showed up in the ring, interrupting Styles’ explanation, mocking the champ while accusing him of ducking the match.
“If you weren’t ducking me, I would beat you here tonight for a fourth time and become WWE world champion,” Ellsworth said. “If it wasn’t for me, AJ, you wouldn’t have won on Sunday anyway.”
Styles reminded Ellsworth that Ellsworth owes his success to Dean Ambrose.
“Guess what, buddy, you burned that bridge,” Styles said. “And you burned yourself.”
Styles then warned Ellsworth that Ambrose will not stop, much like a Terminator, “until he’s caved in your face like your chin is, pal.”
Cue the theme music. Oh, look, it’s Dean Ambrose. Ellsworth truly looked a bit caught off guard. Ambrose then quickly worked his way to the ring and pulled off a “dirty deed” on Ellsworth, who appeared to suddenly forget his name or where he was. Ouch, that looked painful.
Check out the video, which is one of the more entertaining clips I’ve seen from the WWE in a while:
Ambrose doesn’t appear to be feeling the spirit of the holiday season — you know, forgive and forget. I don’t think he’ll be letting this Ellsworth betrayal go for a long, long time.
