What Other Gimmicks Were Considered for Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks?

What could have been. Earlier this week on “Monday Night Raw”, Sasha Banks challenged Charlotte to an Iron Man match at “Roadblock: End of the Line”. Charlotte accepted by the end of the night and this huge feud gets to continue with another major gimmick match. However, according to Wrestling Observer Radio, this wasn’t the ladies’ first choice.

According to the radio show, Banks and Charlotte wanted to have a ladder match for the title instead. That idea wasn’t used though and neither was the company’s idea of the two competing in a steel cage match. The chosen idea, the Iron Man match, hasn’t been used in WWE since 2009, though Banks and Bayley had one in NXT last October.

All three of these ideas would have been cool but I get why they didn’t go with the other two options. We just had a pair of ladder matches at “Tables Ladders and Chairs 2016” and Banks vs. Charlotte already took place inside Hell in a Cell so having a normal cage match after that would seem completely backwards. The Iron Man match should be fun but it should be the end of the feud as there’s almost nothing left for them to do.
