Bill Goldberg was the hottest commodity in WCW at the end of 1998. His undefeated streak had gained one-hundred and seventy-three wins without a loss, but his match with Kevin Nash at Starrcade 1998 was the biggest test of his career. It was destined to be one of the biggest moments in WCW’s history.

The match had been built to a boiling point, but it was Scott Hall and a “taser” that hurt Goldberg. Nash dropped him with the Jackknife Powerbomb for the first loss of Goldberg’s career. It was such a massive moment that many people forgot that Nash had also won the WCW World Championship.

The tragedy is not only about Goldberg’s streak being ended by a “stun gun”, but Goldberg’s career never got close to that height again. Any chance Goldberg had was squandered by “The Fingerpoke of Doom” the next night on Monday Nitro that put the attention off of Goldberg and devalued the WCW World title far too much.
