The Velveteen Dream is one of the most interesting characters of WWE programming. It has been interested because people did not understand his persona when he debuted. A few matches later and the NXT Universe was sold on Patrick Clake’s gimmick. Now, it’s garnered a ton of praise from his peers and many WWE Superstars on the main roster.
Through no fault of his own, you have to wonder if the WWE Universe will understand his gimmick over time. Most people see the potential for him to be a massive star for the company and his talent is undeniable. However, Wrestling Observer Live played down his potential to be the “top guy” in the company because he lacks certain characteristics.

Bryan Alvarez is of the opinion that Velveteen Dream is too young and too small to be a potential WWE poster boy. He left the option open by saying it could happen someday but at 23 years old, you have to see the projection of his career taking him to the top of the WWE ladder. A lot will in 10 years, but most people can see a star from a mile away.
Dream being “too small” is an unfair criticism because numerous WWE Superstars have proven that size doesn’t matter when you can get over with the WWE Universe. He has the ability in NXT, but there are some questions about him on the main roster. The only thing standing in his way on the main roster is the casual fans giving him a real chance.
Most NXT fans are expecting him to debut on the main roster after WrestleMania 35. A lot of people are looking for the next big star now that Roman Reigns’ WWE future is in doubt. WWE may have a potential top guy in The Velveteen Dream if he’s used properly.
