Tye Dillinger’s run on the main roster has been a big disappointment. During his time in NXT, a lot of people believed he could be a potential megastar with his skills in the ring, natural charisma, and “Perfect 10” gimmick all working in his favor. However, Dillinger has had a hard time even getting on television over the past year on SmackDown Live.

More recently, he’s been featured alongside R-Truth and some others in a silly storyline on the side. There is not much momentum on his side at the moment, but WWE officials could have a huge angle planned for him that could change his position. According to a report from RingSideNews, Goldust took to social media to post this warning to R-Truth:

Obviously, the expectation is that Tye Dillinger could be turning heel soon. In the short-term, “The Perfect 10” would feud with Goldust and R-Truth in the undercard before he would move onto bigger feuds. On paper, the “Perfect 10” gimmick was designed to be a heel gimmick, but it got so over in NXT that he came to SmackDown Live as a babyface.
The fact is Dillinger is too talented to be wasted away in the undercard. His gimmick is unique in its simplicity, but it also could gain a lot of popularity with the WWE fans if it was presented differently. It got over in NXT for very different reasons than it would on the main roster. As a heel, Dillinger could find a lot more success on SmackDown Live.
He’s unlikely to win the United States Championship or challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship. However, The Perfect 10 heel persona could bring him out of obscurity.
