The greatest rivalry of Triple H’s career, and the 2nd most of HBK’s. This was a feud about the best of friends that became the worst of enemies due to extreme jealousy, equal talent, but the vindictive drive to be the without question the absolute best in the industry. Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels is what brought HBK back from the dead and The Game to a whole new level.

It began when Hunter betrayed Shawn and HBK’s great return at Summerslam 2002 for a win. It was meant as a one off, but soon Shawn Michaels was World Champion. Their rematch at Armageddon was a brutal Three Stages of Hell match that saw both men put on the performance of their careers to that point. This rivalry would take them to main event Wrestlemania 20 with a man who is better referred to as, “you know who.”

Coincidently, these two would have their last singles confrontation in the brutal structure of Hell in a Cell. Over 40 minutes they spent in that Cell and practically died in their arms. It’s one of those feuds that dwindled and faded away. There wasn’t a winner, but they could have fought forever and for awhile, it seemed like they may.
