After SmackDown last night, Baron Corbin has been replaced on Team SmackDown by Shane McMahon after the former suffered an “injury” during a match with Kalisto.
I understand the logic of bringing Shane O’Mac into the fold, especially against Raw, but why did it need to come at the expense of Corbin? Teasing him as the fifth member of Team SmackDown and then taking it away over a “slip” in the ring was unnecessary.
I’m not saying Baron Corbin is the next WWE World Champion, big star, or anything like that. However, he’s a kid with a lot of potential to be a huge heel for SmackDown and being a part of “Survivor Series” was going to be a huge boost for him.
I also have an issue with the “injury” angle they just ran. How is a foolish slip going to make him look strong? I think it would have been much more effective to have him leave the team of his own volition. An “I don’t care about SmackDown” kind of thing.
He would have come off arrogant and could have continued to be The Lone Wolf. That’s kind of his gimmick. I think it would have worked really well and then asserted himself into a bigger feud after “Survivor Series,” but WWE runs the cheap injury angle instead.
Do you think Baron Corbin has the potential to be a main event player on SmackDown?
