Last night during the show, Team SmackDown needed to replace Baron Corbin for “Survivor Series” after an “injury.” Out of all the options that Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon had, they went with the latter as the fifth member of the team for the PPV.
Shane O’Mac is a fan favorite and his match with The Undertaker earlier this year gives him the leeway from the WWE fans to accept him as a competitor inside the ring, but I am not invested in Shane believably taking on Raw’s best at “Survivor Series.”
Team Raw is comprised of WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Seth Rollins, the US Champion Roman Reigns, and Braun Strowman. I like Shane a lot, but he’s not a wrestler. I’m not buying he can go toe to toe with any of those men.
I’m also not okay with WWE sacrificing Baron Corbin to get Shane in the match. Corbin being a part of the team was one of the coolest things for me because you knew he was going to do well in the match, but it’s almost like WWE changed their minds about him.
It’s nice that WWE wants to push Shane as the “everyman.” Apparently, this is all part of the plan to face Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania. I’m not just convinced that he’s the best option to make SmackDown come off as an equal to Raw. There were stronger choices.
Are you glad to see Shane McMahon as the fifth member of Team SmackDown?
