For most of 2018, Seth Rollins was one of the most popular performers on WWE TV. Seth won the 2019 Men’s Royal Rumble and beat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35 to become the WWE Universal Champion. The WWE Universe was thrilled to see Rollins become the top guy on Monday Night Raw, but that enthusiasm is fading away a bit every day.
According to a report from Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE officials are desperate to make Seth Rollins “look cool” as a babyface. As a result, the powers that be have put him into various situations to try to earn favor with the WWE Universe. For instance, Rollins was featured alongside DX during Raw Reunion and got to deliver the big punchlines.
Seth Rollins: WWE’s New Top Guy or the Right Guy Right Now?
He’s also been featured on-screen and partnered with Becky Lynch over the past couple of months. WWE officials have even put Rollins in backstage segments with The Street Profits to present him as a “fun guy.” Even Brock Lesnar’s assault on him during Raw this week was to present him as “a fighter who keeps coming back despite the odds.”
The powers that be are doing everything in their power to make Seth Rollins “cool” in the eyes of the WWE Universe. However, a lot of fans have criticized his title run and it’s well known that house shows ticket sales haven’t improved with him as champion.
The big problem with WWE officials trying to force Seth Rollins as a top babyface is that WWE fans don’t like being told who to cheer for like that. “The Architect” got over on his own last year with high quality matches. He got over with the fans organically, which is not something that can be replicated. Could a heel turn be coming for Rollins soon?
