Over the past several months, Seth Rollins has been on one of the best runs in his entire career. He won the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 34 and has been red-hot on Raw ever since. That’s why the WWE Universe was shocked after Dolph Ziggler won the IC Championship from him this week. However, there might be a logical reason for it.
According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rollins may have lost the IC Title in order to move him into the WWE Universal Title hunt. With Summerslam just around the corner, it’s plausible WWE officials could be rewarding him with more than an IC Title reign. A new feud between him and Brock Lesnar has been rumored before.

With Braun Strowman expected to cash-in Money in the Bank at Summerslam, it’s hard to see how Seth Rollins is going to fit into the Universal Title hunt. Since Roman Reigns is still the odds-on favorite to capture the championship, it’s possible that Rollins will be his first challenger after Roman beat Brock Lesnar at the biggest party of the summer.
Next week on Raw, Rollins will receive his rematch for the IC Championship. How WWE officials book that match is going to be a huge indication of things to come for him. The powers that be may be planning for him to win the title back, feud with Ziggler through Extreme Rules and move on to Drew McIntyre at Summerslam and Reigns afterward.

The WWE Universe didn’t expect the title change on Raw, which was a genuine surprise, so it’s just about seeing the long-term plan that WWE officials have started. With Lesnar still missing a lot of time, the IC Title is really important to WWE television, so there’s no question WWE officials are attempting to make the title hunt a lot more unpredictable.
