Ever since Rusev regained the United States Championship from Kalisto at “Extreme Rules”, the hope was that he’d be able to bring back the prestige to the title that it’s lost since the end of John Cena’s title reigns.

However, a champion can only do so much and it’s up to the challengers to bring something fresh and exciting to the belt as well. It looks like WWE is trying to do that properly by upping the stakes for Rusev at “Money in the Bank.”

According to a report from RingSideNews.com, WWE is planning for Rusev to defend the United States title against both Jack Swagger and Titus O’Neil in a triple threat match at “Money in the Bank.”

If this turns out to be true, last night’s match between Rusev and Swagger was to get the latter involved in the United States title picture.

It hasn’t been revealed why WWE decided to add Swagger when Rusev vs. Titus was clearly headed into “Money in the Bank”. The match will most likely be announced soon, but it’s very likely that Rusev retains the title at the PPV.

Do you think Rusev can bring back the prestige to make the United States Championship a top title again?
