Recently, it was announced that WWE’s big four PPVs will have an NXT Takeover special the night before to make the entire weekend a bigger extravaganza, which is a phenomenal idea.
We’ve already had NXT Takeovers for “Summerslam” and Wrestlemania. In November, we’ll get another for “Survivor Series.” WWE will be doing one for “Royal Rumble” as well, and they already have big plans for it.
According to a report from Four3Four.com, there are plans for an NXT “Royal Rumble match” for the NXT Takeover special before the 2017 “Royal Rumble” PPV, which will only feature NXT Superstars.
All the rules will be the same except it will likely be a twenty man match rather than a thirty man. The belief is the winner will receive a title shot for the NXT Takeover special before Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando.
It’s being reported by other sources that WWE’s “Royal Rumble” PPV will be held in Los Angeles this year, so it looks like we’ll be getting NXT Takeover: Los Angeles in January.
News like this likely means we’ll be getting an NXT “Survivor Series Elimination match” for that event too, but it’ll be interesting to see what new tricks the powers that be in NXT can bring out of traditional matches.
