Several months ago, Kota Ibushi was seen in attendance at NXT Takeover: Dallas. Since then, it’s been speculated that he’s on route to NXT sooner rather than later.

Ibushi was announced along with thirty-one other competitors as a part of the “Cruiserweight Classic” that will air next month, which could be his ticket to NXT.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Kota Ibushi had left New Japan Pro Wrestling to pursue other opportunities in the industry.

It was revealed around the same time that Shinsuke Nakamura had gotten in touch with Ibushi and told him to “get in touch” if he wanted to broaden his horizons. His appearance at Takeover: Dallas was likely a preview.

According to a rumor with CageSideSeats.com, the powers that be are making a point to book Ibushi quite strongly in the “Cruiserweight Classic” and it is the hope of WWE officials that it will lead to an NXT deal.

Kota Ibushi is insanely talented, and he’ll have plenty of familiar faces in NXT to feud with from Finn Balor to Nakamura to even Hideo Itami.

If NXT is preparing to lose a lot of talent, signing Kota Ibushi is certainly going to help the roster transition and create a new star for the brand.
