Rumor: Nikki Bella Expected to Win SmackDown Women’s Championship

Nikki Bella has a lot of fans, but also has a lot of critics. Many people don’t take her seriously despite being the longest reigning WWE Divas Champion in history. That record will stand since the belt is now retired.

However, it was announced last night that SmackDown is introducing a Women’s Championship for the brand at “Backlash” in a few weeks, and Nikki Bella will be one of the six competitors vying for the championship.

Although the WWE Universe would choose Becky Lynch, Naomi, or even Natalya to become the first SmackDown Women’s Champion, it looks like WWE officials are going with an all too familiar choice.

According to a rumor from CageSideSeats.com, Nikki Bella is expected to win the championship at “Backlash” to help establish the new champion since she is the most accomplished woman on the roster by WW standards.

The belief is she will become the brand’s first Women’s Champion, but Bella isn’t expected to hold the title for very long after “Backlash.”

The only issue SmackDown is going to run into is if Nikki Bella is heel or face. At “Summerslam,” she received a face reaction only to team and win the match with the heels. Carmella’s beatdown of her last night may have been a face turn for Nikki, so the jury is still out on what she’s going to be now that she’s on SmackDown.
