Rumor: John Cena Reclaiming US Title Shortly After Return, Bringing Back US Open Challenge

John Cena will make his long-awaited return to WWE during the Memorial Day edition of Monday Night Raw. In all honesty, WWE programming hasn’t been the same without him, and it’ll be good to have him back on TV.

Having Cena back brings a top face to the brand that is desperately needed considering the Roman Reigns situation, but the biggest question is what will he be doing once he returns.

According to a report from DailyWrestlingNews.com, Cena is going to receive a major push to the top to help with the roster depth issues and the low ratings, but that goes without saying.

The report is claiming that he will most likely be winning the WWE United States Championship again and bring back the US Open Challenge throughout the summer that brought the title to great prestige last year.

This Sunday, Kalisto will defend that championship against Rusev at “Extreme Rules” and Cena will most likely be feuding with the winner of that match when he returns.

Honestly, it doesn’t really matter because Cena vs. Rusev is a solid face vs. heel dynamic with some history and Cena was already putting over Kalisto when he got injured. We’ll just have to wait to see what direction WWE officials want to go in after “Extreme Rules” this Sunday night.
