Almost immediately after Jerry “The King” Lawler was suspended by WWE, the rumors for Corey Graves to become the new heel commentator next to Mauro Ranallo began.
There is a lot of speculation about Graves taking over for Lawler as the first edition of SmackDown itches closer. David Otunga has taken over for Lawler in the meantime, but that was always meant to be temporary.
According to a report from CageSideSeats.com, Corey Graves is expected to take over for Jerry Lawler when SmackDown goes live on July 19th.
If that happens, the belief is he would continue to do NXT, or Bryon Saxton would take over for him in WWE developmental. Before we get ahead of ourselves, we have to address the elephant in the room.
This change would have been a lot easier to pull off if Lawler’s suspension had held up, but his charges were dismissed yesterday, and his suspension has been lifted. Now, it’ll be more deliberate if WWE chooses Graves.
Lawler’s legal troubles are over, but WWE could still make the decision for Graves to replace The King on Smackdown. It’s a tough decision to make if you’re a WWE officials.
Do you think Corey Graves is a better choice for SmackDown than Jerry Lawler?
