At “Hell in a Cell,” Charlotte defeated Sasha Banks inside the infamous “Cell” to reclaim the Raw Women’s Championship for the third time. The match quality is still a matter of debate, but the decision to have her go over Sasha Banks is the greater debate.
It’s been said that WWE officials changed their minds in order to move forward with their creative plans to have Bayley get involved in a bigger feud on Raw, but a few more details have come to light about what WWE has planned for Raw’s women’s division.
According to a recent report from CageSideSeats.com, WWE officials are interested in moving forward with Bayley and Charlotte heading into “Survivor Series” and after.
It was rumored that WWE wanted to push Banks vs. Bayley forward, but they are likely saving that feud for Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando due to the ties to NXT. Also, they didn’t like the feuds for The Boss after “Hell in a Cell” if she remained the women’s champion.
On paper, Banks would have entered into a feud with Dana Brooke or Nia Jax. That didn’t interest WWE officials and they decided to go with Bayley vs. Charlotte instead.
