Emma’s injury couldn’t have come at a more inopportune time. Obviously, there is no right time to get injured, but she had just come to the main roster and seemed to be on the cusp of a major push.
She was feuding with Becky Lynch and getting quality victories. Dana Brooke had been brought up from NXT, and there was a rumor that WWE officials were thinking about her being in the Women’s championship hunt soon.
Earlier this week, Emma ruptured a disc in her back. It required major surgery that she had on Wednesday, and according to WWE and her update on Twitter, it was a very successful surgery, and she’ll make a full recovery.
The only issue is that with a surgery and injury of this magnitude, it’s going to take some healing before a timetable can be reached to begin her recovery and start working on getting her back into the ring.
Both Emma and her real-life boyfriend Zack Ryder posted the following after her surgery:

It’s possible for us to see Emma in late 2016, but her return is far more likely to take place in 2017 at some point. Hopefully, she can pick right up where she left off.
Based on the past few weeks of booking and her win over Paige last night, it seems that Emma’s push may have fallen to Dana Brooke.
