Rumor: Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa to Reunite ‘DIY’

Last week, the NXT Universe was shocked to learn that Johnny Gargano was the one to attack Aleister Black. The heel turn for Gargano is one of the most interesting twists on NXT television for quite some time. A natural babyface character working as a heel is always a risk, but most people are excited to see Johnny Wrestling give it a college try.

The expectation is Johnny Gargano will face Aleister Black at NXT Takeover: War Games in a few weeks. The next few weeks are going to be pivotal to Gargano’s heel run, but he may have some help from a familiar foe. According to a report from RingSideNews, the NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa has been teasing a reunion of DIY on social media.

It’s not necessary to reunite the team because both men are heels, but seeing the duo dominate the NXT Tag Team division could be extremely fun. Much like Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn reunited after the latter’s heel turn, it could help Gargano get over as a heel with the NXT Universe.  And there’s no one with more heat that Tommaso Ciampa.

From a storyline standpoint, reuniting DIY could be confusing since it goes against the logic of Gargano’s heel turn. There’s no question that he took out Aleister Black to have the match with Ciampa at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn to himself. It doesn’t make a lot of sense if he reunites with him despite the fact they were just trying to kill each other.

The immediate future of Johnny Gargano’s heel turn should be explained in the weeks to come. It will be great to watch, but DIY reuniting is something that is on the table if NXT officials think it will help everyone involved and boost up the tag team picture.
