Last week, it was reported that Daniel Bryan was asking for a “reasonable amount of creative control” in his new contract with WWE. The latest update claims WWE officials have offered him a three years extension, but Bryan hasn’t signed a new deal just yet.
According to a report from DirtySheets, John Cena could be causing some major issues between Bryan and WWE officials. Apparently, Cena advised him to hire ICM Partners to negotiate his contract extension with the company. ICM Partners are telling Bryan to begin negotiations asking for as much as possible before re-signing with the company.

The expectation for Bryan is the extension will be his final deal with WWE. As a result, he’s looking to get a lot more money and perks, especially since he had to fight for over two years just to get back into the ring. More importantly, WWE officials know Bryan has options outside of the company and could wrestle anywhere now that’s he’s cleared.
The former WWE Champion has a lot of leverage in these negotiations because he’s one of the company’s top babyfaces. His merchandise flies off the shelves and he’s also one of the biggest stars on Total Bellas. If WWE were to lose Bryan, they would likely lose him to New Japan and he’s expected to be a key face on SmackDown on FOX next year.
At the moment, WWE officials refuse to push Bryan beyond the midcard because he has not signed a new deal yet. If the two sides agree to terms, the expectation is Bryan will receive a major push on SmackDown after Summerslam. John Cena’s advice to Daniel Bryan could ensure he’s never forced to deal with bad booking ever again.
