It’s very interesting to think about what would have happened in NXT over the past year if Hideo Itami hadn’t been injured.
We don’t know if Finn Balor would have become the NXT Champion. He would have by now, but NXT seemed like it was heading for Itami vs. Owens. It’s not that NXT hasn’t been great over the past year, it’s just the untapped potential of Itami that is still very much up in the air.
The rumors have been claiming that Hideo Itami is very close to returning to NXT programming. One such report claimed he’d be back over the next few weeks. It’s still not that crazy for him to return tomorrow night during NXT Takeover: The End.
During today’s conference call with Triple H for Takeover, The Game was asked about Hideo and how much longer it will be before he returns to NXT.
Triple H said that he couldn’t get too deep into the medical issues, but the main things that have derailed his return is long term issues with scar tissue and mobility. He said that “everyone heals differently.”
He also said that his opinion of Itami hasn’t changed at all and he is looking forward to having him back in NXT sooner rather than later.
