The importance of Finn Balor’s shoulder injury after “Summerslam” many months ago cannot be overstated because it directly changed WWE’s plans for Raw. Had he not been injured, Balor would most likely be the WWE Universal Champion today.
The expectation is that Finn’s timetable for a return to the ring is roughly six months from August, which would bring him back to WWE television in February. If he gets lucky, he could make the “Royal Rumble,” but Wrestlemania 33 is far more likely.
However, it has recently been reported that Finn Balor could make a return to WWE television before either of those PPVs. According to a report from RingSideNews.com, Balor is being advertised for the “Roadblock” PPV in December.
Although it is extremely unlikely he’ll be medically cleared to compete at the PPV in a match, an appearance and a role during the event is likely. Balor could qualify for the “Royal Rumble” match at the event or make his goals clear for Wrestlemania.
The expectation is Kevin Owens will still be the WWE Universal Champion by the time Finn is set to return, so Balor vs. Owens could be something we see on “The Road to Wrestlemania.” At the very least, The Demon King will be looking to reclaim his title.
Do you think Finn Balor should reclaim the WWE Universal Championship when he returns?
