Here’s What WWE Officials Have Planned If ‘Crown Jewel’ is Canceled

In recent years, the company has stood by doing what is “best for business.” Sometimes that means giving Ronda Rousey as the Raw Women’s Champion or randomly pushing Jinder Mahal as the WWE Champion. The WWE Universe does not always enjoy what it takes to keep the company growing, but WWE’s business in Saudi Arabia is different.

A lot of people were unhappy with WWE openly ignoring it’s women’s movement when the Saudis refused to allow them to compete at the Greatest Royal Rumble. Now, there’s a lot of backlash against the company for the upcoming ‘Crown Jewel’ PPV. US Senators are actually urging Linda McMahon and WWE to “pause” its dealings with Saudi Arabia.

WWE officials have put a lot into promoting the event and its success is very important to the company. However, the powers that be do have a backup plan if the pressure gets to be too much and the company is forced to cancel Crown Jewel. According to a report from the Wrestling Observer, WWE would just move all scheduled matches to Survivor Series. Shawn Michaels’return would happen in Los Angeles instead of Saudi Arabia.

The dramatic thing would be WWE officials having to meet the financial obligations the Saudis were prepared to pay off. The rumored offer for HBK to make his in-ring return was an estimated $10 million. It’s unclear if the company would have to pay him that, or if they’d negotiate under the circumstances. Either way, some huge plans would change.

With so much backlash against the company, it may be in the best interest to cancel the event. It will be interesting to watch how WWE officials handle the situation and decide on what is best for business.
