After a full night of speculation, it was revealed during tonight’s broadcast of UFC 199 that the rumors about his return to The Octagon are true.
Brock Lesnar will be fighting an opponent to be named later at UFC 200 on July 9th in Las Vegas, Nevada. The only reason that he’s able to do this is because he renegotiated his WWE and gained permission for a UFC return.
It is amazing what can happen in just a few short hours in sports entertainment. There are so many angles to this news that affect both UFC and WWE as well as the relationship between the two companies.
The impact that Brock Lesnar’s fight will have on WWE is huge because one of WWE’s top performers is going to be able to compete in The Octagon at a very high level. That alone should make much of the WWE roster legitimate.
The problem there is it could also be viewed as a strong negative if he loses, which could destroy Lesnar’s draw in WWE. On the other hand, Lesnar winning big in UFC could lead to him getting the monkey off his back, and do so much to legitimize WWE’s roster in the eyes of a lot of people if some of the talent can hang with Brock.
