Three years ago, Bayley and Sasha Banks made history in Brooklyn. Since that day, both women have captured the Raw Women’s Championship and established themselves on the main roster. For the past several months, WWE officials have been building tension between the two performers and the WWE Universe assumed a huge feud was coming.

The expectation was Banks vs. Bayley would rekindle their rivalry on the grandest stage of them all. However, WWE officials canceled their match for WrestleMania 34 and the feud has been losing momentum over the past two months. Now, it’s being reported by CageSideSeats that WWE officials are pulling the plug on the entire feud going forward.

The report claims that Bayley is expected to move into a long feud with The Riott Squad after Money in the Bank. It’s unclear what The Boss will be doing on Raw heading into Summerslam, but it seems Banks vs. Bayley is being shelved for the foreseeable future.

On paper, Summerslam weekend in Brooklyn should have been the best time to book another match between them. Obviously, WWE officials are planning a slower burn for their rivalry than anyone expected. Their characters aren’t on speaking terms. The plan could be to book them for WrestleMania 35 or possibly next year’s Summerslam event.

Relive Bayley and Sasha Banks’ heated rivalry: WWE NXT, Sept. 30, 2015

Sasha Banks and Bayley made wrestling history together, but WWE officials’ hesitance to bring their feud to the main roster shows that their moment may have ended. If the powers that be are trying to keep The Boss and Bayley apart, it’s possible that both of them will move onto other things. There’s no guarantee WWE officials will bring them back together. The WWE Universe shouldn’t hold their breath waiting for Bayley vs. The Boss to continue to WWE programming.

Who’s the better performer: Bayley or Sasha Banks?
