Last night, it was revealed that AJ Styles will defend the WWE Championship against both Dean Ambrose and John Cena in a triple threat match at “No Mercy.”
The odds of Styles walking out of that match as the WWE Champion are stacked against him, but there is a new report claiming that WWE officials have plans for the WWE title picture.
According to a report from CageSideSeats.com, WWE officials are said to be extremely happy with AJ Styles work since he came to WWE. The WWE Championship win was a result of that.
The plan is for him to be the WWE Champion for the long term on SmackDown. He’s not expected to lose the title at “No Mercy” or anytime soon.
Shane McMahon also revealed that Ambrose will receive his one on one title rematch after “No Mercy,” so we could be seeing Ambrose vs. Styles II or Cena vs. Ambrose if WWE officials change their minds.
Living in a WWE where AJ Styles is the WWE Champion is still surreal. It’s something most people thought about, but questioned if it was even possible. Now, the question is how long it will last?
Do you think AJ Styles should have a long title reign with the WWE Championship?
