Wrestlemania season just ended. Before we know it, it’ll be time for “Payback” on May 1st. So far, we know that the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns will defend the title against AJ Styles.
It’s a very intriguing matchup and with the recent debut of Bullet Club members Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, the possibility of AJ Styles walking out of “Payback” as the WWE Champion is quite strong.
However, all of that goes kaput if the Phenomenal One goes down with an injury. That’s almost what happened during last night’s SmackDown tapings.
During a match with Alberto Del Rio, Styles was accidently dropped on his head after a botched move. It was a close call, but the spot looked bad from audience members who have reported the injury scare.
Luckily, Styles appears to be fine, and there is no significant injury to his neck. In fact, AJ tweeted out the following to update fans on his situation:
AJ Styles is thriving in WWE right now as a face. It’ll be great to see him in his first main event for the company, but there is still the strong possibility of him walking out of the match with the WWE title. It’s going to be very interesting to see how all these elements mix on WWE television.
