In the months leading up to Wrestlemania, there were way too many rumors for them all to come true. One such rumor was WWE attempting to capitalize on Batista’s Hollywood success and have him make an appearance at Wrestlemania.

According to the rumors, Batista was offered a role for the event. However, The Animal just didn’t see the point of the appearance and turned it down. He was also rumored to be a potential guest referee for one of the matches on the card.

According to ProWrestlingSheet.com, the segment that saw The League of Nations confronted by Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels, and Stone Cold Steve Austin originally was offered to Batista.

The same report from Ryan Satin claims that a guest referee role for him was never in the cards, and it was a cameo appearance like that or nothing.

Given Batista’s strange dynamic with the WWE Universe, it’s a good thing that he passed on the role. The smart crowd likely would booed him out of the building despite HBK and Stone Cold being by his side.

There is no word right now on when Batista is available to return to WWE, or if he even wants to return given the amount of success he has found in Hollywood. He’ll likely come back for a cup of coffee sooner or later when it makes sense, but it’s possible we’ve seen the last of The Animal in WWE on a full-time basis.
