[dropcap]F[/dropcap]irst and foremost, Punk’s body had endured 20 years of wrestling without much time off. Punk’s body was in disarray, but his mental toughness always pushed him through to the next story his character was telling.

As he dealt with his health issues, being a champion means that you don’t have to wrestle every night. His ability on the microphone was always his strongest skill. As WWE Champion, he didn’t every week; he did talk every week. That would be more than enough to generate fan interest in him and the championship.

Punk still pushed through unhappy for almost a year. He would have been in better shape if he had been protected.
