6. Sami Zayn
Sami Zayn was one of the most over wrestlers in the world in 2014 on NXT. His quest to become NXT Champion last year was one of the most inspiring and well-told stories in wrestling. Unfortunately, NXT has on the rise and catching attention, but it’s exposure was only just beginning to pick up steam when Kevin Owens arrived to become champion.
Sami Zayn made his debut against John Cena in Montreal when his shoulder gave out on him and required surgery. There can be no way to predict where Sami Zayn would be today, but the smart money is on the main roster as a babyface.
When Sami Zayn returns, it makes the most sense for him to challenge Kevin Owens and the Intercontinental Championship. For smart wrestling fans with a knowledge of their history, it’s very likely Zayn’s popularity could explode if WWE booked Owens vs. Zayn at Wrestlemania for the IC Title.
That’s a career maker for Zayn and Owens, but Zayn could launch into superstardom with that victory. After that, Zayn would have stock to one day become WWE’s most favorite wrestler just as he has in every other promotion to which he’s been a part.
