That’s some fast turnaround. AEW is one of the most fascinating cases in the history of professional wrestling. They have come into existence and already become one of the biggest wrestling companies in the world, despite not even having been around for six months yet. The company seems to have tapped into a special segment of the wrestling audience who want something different than what WWE is offering. By doing so, they are presenting themselves as the fan friendly promotion, meaning they do not want to anger their audience. They came close to doing so on Monday and then fixed it in a hurry.

Over the weekend, AEW announced that they would be making an announcement at noon on Monday. After sending out a few different tweets hyping up the advertisement, it was announced that AEW would be returning to Jacksonville, Florida for a special Homecoming edition of Dynamite on January 1. The company is headquartered in Jacksonville and have aired a single event there, with Fight For The Fallen in July. It turns out that they were not done yet.

About an hour after the announcement was posted, AEW President Tony Khan responded on Twitter, saying that the announcement was a bit too much of a tease and that the nationwide fans needed an announcement of their own. Khan then promised another announcement for everyone else in the future. No announcement was made over the course of the day, either by Khan or AEW and there was no indication of when the announcement would be made.

They had some success in Jacksonville before. Check out some highlights from Fight For The Fallen:

Opinion: I’m not sure what to make of this one but it is nice to see AEW realize that what they said was not the best way of going about doing things. It was an announcement that could have been a bit deal and wound up being nothing more than something for just a single group of fans. It’s a smart move to have something for the masses, even if it has yet to be announced. Now hopefully the new announcement lives up to the hype, or this whole thing was good for nothing whatsoever.

What do you want the announcement to be? Is it smart to make a second one? Let us know in the comments below.
