They’re waiting until the last minute on this. We’re less than a week away from Stomping Grounds and for some reason, WWE has felt the need to wait until the last minute to set up a lot of the card. Between this week’s Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live, three matches have been added to the card. That’s not good enough though as 205 Live wanted to get in on the action.
This week on 205 Live, General Manager Drake Maverick announced that Cruiserweight Champion Tony Nese will defend his title against both Akira Tozawa and Drew Gulak at Stomping Grounds. The match comes after last week’s four way #1 contenders match ended with a double pin between the two challengers. This will be the first title shot for both challengers against Nese.
It was a heck of a way to get here. Check out last week’s four way:
Opinion: It’s not the biggest surprise in the world, though I could have gone for a #1 contenders match instead of just having the triple threat match announced. That being said, neither of the two of them seem like the most thrilling challenger to Nese so this is the best idea all around. Hopefully the match backs it up, which is certainly a possibility given who is in there.
