He’s next. Last weekend’s Elimination Chamber pay per view ended with quite the shock as the Miz cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to become the WWE Champion for the second time in his career. This came after a long time holding the briefcase and teasing the cash in but everything worked out in the end. That was just the first step though and now it is time for Miz to defend the thing.
Part of the problem with being the World Champion is that you have to fight off all of the challengers coming for the title. The Monday Night Raw roster is pretty stacked and that could create more than a few problems for Miz, but that is where he tends to shine. Miz is quite the strategist, but he might need more than a little strategy to escape his first title defense as champion.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Bobby Lashley was named the #1 contender, thanks to a deal made during Elimination Chamber. MVP had Lashley attack former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre so Miz could cash in the briefcase. As a result, Miz agreed to face Lashley next week on Monday Night Raw. Lashley also had to defeat Braun Strowman in the show’s main event to prevent the title match from becoming a triple threat.
You’ll get used to him. Check out Miz and Lashley before the title match:
Opinion: This is one of those things that could go either way and I’m curious to see how it works out. I’m not sure I can imagine Lashley winning the title clean during next week’s show but maybe McIntyre interferes and costs Lashley the title in some revenge for Elimination Chamber. It’s something that could go well and the question is where the whole story goes, which is a good feeling to have.
