That would explain a bit. There was a lot going on this week in WWE and not all of it was bad news. While the major stories centered on a lot of wrestlers being let go from the company to save some money, there was another story that took another turn for the better. That is something that is going to change the way the company operates for a little while and it is good news.
Over the last week or two, one of the more controversial stories taking place in WWE has revolved around the television schedule. Originally WWE had planned to run some marathon tapings to get as much in the can as possible. Last week that was changed to everything going live for the sake of protecting the network contracts, but now things have changed one more time.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, USA and FOX both guaranteed Vince McMahon that they would not withhold money if they did not run all live programming. As a result, McMahon agreed to switch over to a week on, week off taping schedule with two episodes being taped, allowing the wrestlers to have a week away from the Performance Center. This schedule will be in place until at least July.
WWE has a lot going on at the moment. Check out some of what they offered with the live shows:
Opinion: Even if it might not have been for the most noble of reasons, this is better than nothing. At the end of the day, the wrestlers should not be at the Performance Center any more than they have to be (or perhaps even less than that). Giving them the time off is a good move and far better than having them fly in and out of Orlando once a week. If nothing else, giving them some time off to rest and heal up is a good idea.
