That’s a new one. The Women’s Revolution has changed the way wrestling fans look at women. No matter how you think about it, the women have gone from little more than eye candy to main eventing a pay per view and becoming a major featured attraction. Now though, WWE is taking things in a somewhat different direction.
According to Squaredcirclesirens.com,
WWE has signed independent wrestler Kennadi Brink as a referee. Brink has wrestled around the country for promotions such as MCW, Shimmer and Ring of Honor. The company has had a full time female referee before as Rita Chatterton used to work for the company in the 1980s. Since then, women have only served as referees on occasion, such as Jacqueline on and off over the years.
Opinion: As long as the focus isn’t on the fact that the referee is a woman, I have zero issue with this. If she’s capable of doing the job, which I have no reason to believe she isn’t, there’s nothing wrong with having her in the role. It would be cool to have and could continue advancing things for WWE on the whole.
