Make it more interesting. We are less than five weeks away from WrestleMania 37 and while that might not seem like a long time, WWE still has a few things to cover on the way there. In addition to building up the show itself, they also need to take care of Fastlane, which takes place later this month. Now an idea they have will be able to cover both shows at once.
There are a lot of feuds currently taking place on Monday Night Raw but none of them feel as personal as Sheamus vs. Drew McIntyre. The two of them had been friends for over twenty years before Sheamus turned on him for the sake of a shot at McIntyre’s WWE Title. This led to a pair of pretty great matches on Monday Night Raw and seems to be setting up a third at Fastlane. There is going to be something extra included.
According to Wrestlingnews.co, the rumored Sheamus vs. McIntyre Last Man Standing match at Fastlane will also be a #1 contenders match, with the winner challenging Bobby Lashley for the WWE Title at WrestleMania 37. The match has yet to be announced but is expected to be confirmed on next week’s Monday Night Raw. McIntyre is expected to challenge Lashley for the title.
The two of them hve had quite the rivalry. Check out how we got here:
Opinion: This is a logical move and I couldn’t imagine anyone else challenging Lashley for the title in the first place. Even if the stipulation is never named, the match is likely to be a de facto #1 contenders match in the first place. McIntyre vs. Lashley has seemed to be locked in for the title match for a long time now but there is nothing wrong with having him earn the spot first.
