There is some potential there. Since debuting last year, Andrade has shown some serious potential in WWE. While it took a long time to get him going in the ring, it seems that he has a ton of potential with his matches against Rey Mysterio being major highlights. If he can do that against other opponents, Andrade could be a major star for a long time to come. WWE seems to think the same, with a bit of a twist.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE’s long term goal is to make Andrade a face, likely pushing him as the top Hispanic star in the company. There is no word on when this would happen or how Zelina Vega would factor into the situation. Andrade debuted on the main roster last year in the Superstar Shakeup after having held the NXT Title in 2017/2018.
This could work. Check out what still heel Andrade can do in a great match against Mysterio:
Opinion: Works for me. Andrade has more natural charisma than he knows what to do with and while some of that comes from his association with Vega, there’s certainly a lot to go around and he could be fine even without her. He was a huge star in Mexico and if that kind of star power can be brought to WWE, they would be crazy not to capitalize on it in any way they could.
