It happens to everyone. Despite how some wrestlers might seem, all of them have to step away from the ring at some point. Various wrestlers try to hang on as long as they can because there is often one more chance out there for them, but that does not mean they are going to be able to hang on forever. That seems to be the case with a certain WWE legend.
Women’s wrestling has come a rather long way in the last few years and that is a great thing to see. The days of women being pushed entirely because of their looks or the limited amount of clothing they are willing to wear in the ring are long gone and it has been a huge improvement. While the modern women’s division has come the farthest, there is another group of women who paved the way. One of them might be ready to hang it up.
Melina appeared on a recent edition of Vickie Guerrero’s Excuse Me podcast. During the interview, she mentioned that she has a nearly torn ACL and she will need surgery. As a result, she is unsure if she will wrestle again. Melina did not say that she is retiring or that her career is over due to the injury. Her most recent match took place in February 2020 and she appeared on Raw Legends in January.
Melina was a pretty big star in her own right. Check out what she did in her day:
Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is going to happen to almost every wrestler and while I could go for seeing Melina wrestle in WWE one more time, it is better to keep her knee intact before it completely falls apart. Hopefully everything winds up going well for her and she can retire on her own, though the fact that her knee is falling apart is more important. Maybe it can get better, but for now this seems to be the best path to choose.
