Can the Great White North feel the heat? Last Sunday night saw Summerslam 2018 take place in New York City for the fourth straight year. This stretch of shows cams after Summerslam took place in Los Angeles for six years in a row. In other words, the last time a city other than those two hosted the second biggest show of the year was in 2008, which means it’s time for some fresh blood.
As announced on WWE.com, Summerslam 2019 will be taking place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at the Scotiabank Arena. The event will be similar to the other Big Four pay per views, with an NXT Takeover the night before and Monday Night Raw and SmackDown live the following nights. All four shows will be taking place in the same arena.
Remember this one?
Opinion: It’s nice to not have everything be about New York City, Philadelphia or Los Angeles for a change so at least there’s that. Toronto is fine for a big time pay per view as it’s a major city and somewhere that doesn’t get a lot of pay per view action. The event in 2004 was pretty good so they do have at least a little experience with something like this. Hopefully things are even better next year.
