History was made at the most recent set of NXT United Kingdom tapings this weekend, which were held at Insomnia, the U.K.’s biggest gaming festival, at NEC Birmingham.

As reported by WWE.com, Rhea Ripley became the first-ever NXT UK Women’s Champion, competing with such talents as Toni Storm, Jinny, Isla Dawn, Millie McKenzie, Nina Samuels, Dakota Kai and Xia Brookside.

The two-day event was taped as part of the upcoming NXT UK series, which will feature the greatest competitors from the United Kingdom and Ireland. The event was first announced by both Triple H and General Manager Johnny Saint.

Ripley will also be competing in the upcoming 2018 edition of the Mae Young Classic.

Editor’s Opinion:

While I am not very familiar with her work, I think it is awesome that they have created an NXT UK Women’s Championship. It helps to make the brand feel even more established, as well as help with future storylines. Congratulations to Rhea Ripley for making history!
